The Atlanta BBQ Festival is a two-day celebration of a favourite summertime pastime for Americans. It is dedicated to the famous unsurpassed Southern BBQ style. In addition to great food and beverages, there is also live music and a large kids' area. Many of Atlanta's best BBQ restaurants offer their unique dishes. And more than 50 professional BBQ teams from all over the South compete for cash prizes and trophies.
The famous BAR-B-Q Cook-Off is the culmination of The Atlanta BBQ Festival. Visitors can discover new styles, flavours and cooking techniques from Texas, Memphis, St Louis, Carolina or Kentucky. Just go and find your favourite! It's a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned contest, so the Society's rules are applied. Teams compete in such categories as Pulled Pork, Brisket, Chicken, and Ribs. Winners are determined in each group as well as an overall winner will with the highest combined score. The best teams will split $12,000 in cash.
In addition to the diversity of flavours and cooking styles, visitors can try over 50 samples of beer, wine, cider, and BBQ samples from 20 local barbeque restaurants.
