Horseback Riding in the Andes, Chile 2025
A ride in the formidable Andes atop of a trained Chilean horse will surely provide a memorable experience
Best time: March–May
Chilean horses are deliberately raised in the mountains so that these muscular animals can easily manage narrow gorges and steep slopes. Though local breeds are usually smaller in size compared to European or American stallions, these seem to be even more hardy and docile and are suitable for not just skilled riders but also beginners. The best time to discover the Andes atop a horse is autumn, as summer heat may be too unbearable for both you and your horse.
