Every September, the world-renown ski resort of Vail hosts a vibrant Bavarian harvest festival. Vail Oktoberfest is held during two weekends in Lionshead Village and Vail Village, with beautiful mountain views on the backdrops and plenty of classic Bavarian fare.
In addition to authentic German beers like Spaten, Oktoberfest visitors can enjoy brats, schnitzel sandwiches, spaetzle, strudels, and pretzels. Get ready to hear lots of oom-pah music and live rock music! In addition, there are traditional Bavarian dancers and plenty of entertainment, which includes authentic competitions like keg bowling, bratwurst eating, and full stein lifting.
World Keg Bowling Championship in Vail is a fun competition with participants trying to hurl a keg on wheels down the lane at a pyramid of empty kegs. Another fun event is the Oktoberfest Costume Contest. All visitors who show up in Bavarian or Oktoberfest-related attire have a chance to participate. The winning costumes are determined by crowd response. The winners will take home plenty of prizes!
