What to Expect

As promised by the organizers, the event is packed with a variety of activities. Each day begins with an early morning balloon lift-off, where over 70 hot air balloons ascend into the sky, providing a breathtaking view. In addition to the balloon flights, visitors can enjoy a range of other events, including skydiving demonstrations, drone shows, and remote-controlled balloon displays. The evenings feature a spectacular balloon glow, where the balloons are illuminated against the night sky, creating a magical atmosphere.

Entertainment

Entertainment options are abundant, with live music performances throughout the day. Concerts by bands like Winchester Road and Sofakillers add to the festive ambiance, while aerial acrobats from Aerial Aura captivate audiences with their high-flying acts. A 3-part Hot-Air Balloon Photography Workshop features a virtual lecture, hands-on sessions, and personalized feedback at Mike's Camera. Guests can partake in the enchanting experience of balloon rides offered by Rainbow Ryders. Food vendors offer a variety of cuisines and a beer garden opens early to provide refreshments, making sure visitors are well-fed and entertained.

Colorado Springs offers additional activities, such as the Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods, and the Echo Canyon River Expeditions.

Saturday, August 31

The festivities begin at 5 am on Saturday, August 31, with the opening of the park and concessions, followed by a 5:45 am drone show and a 6:30 am opening ceremony. The morning session includes a 7 am balloon lift-off, a remote control balloon display at 8:30 am, and a 9 am skydiving exhibition. The evening session kicks off at 3:30 pm with the Hot Air Happy Hour, live concerts, and aerial acrobat performances. The highlight of the evening is the 7 pm balloon glow, followed by another drone show at 9:30 pm.

Sunday, September 1

Sunday, September 1, offers a similar lineup with morning events starting at 5 am and evening activities, including concerts by Missy & The Dirty Secrets and Cody Cozz. The 3rd Annual Orangetheory 5k race kicks off at 9 am at the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial in the northwest corner of Memorial Park.

Monday, September 2

Military Day on Monday, September 2, begins at 5 am, featuring a 5:45 am drone show, a balloon lift-off at 7 am, and a 9 am remote control balloon display, capped off with a performance by the 4ID Mile High Rock Band at 8 am.

Tickets

The Labor Day Lift Off is a free event, which makes it accessible to everyone. However, there are VIP options available for those looking to enhance their experience. The Lift Off Lounge VIP Experience offers a private tent and seating area with prime views of the balloon launches and glows. This package includes food, drinks, and private restrooms. Morning session tickets are priced at $150 per person, with kid tickets available for $75. Evening sessions require separate tickets at the same rates. Additionally, a full reserved table for ten is available for $1,250.

Parking

Parking is well-organized, with designated areas near the event and prices ranging from $10 to $20 (plus a service fee). Pre-purchased parking passes ensure a spot until specific times in the morning (5-10 am) and evening (3:30-10 pm) sessions. Free parking passes and all-day access to the festival are included for those purchasing VIP tickets.

Bus Pass

The LDLO Bus Pass allows companies or individuals to purchase a pass for $300, ensuring a reserved drop-off and pick-up location closer to the Balloon Launch Field than any other parking lot. Charter buses have designated parking on Union Blvd between Memorial Drive and S. Parkside Drive and must remain parked for the entire event, with no reentry allowed.
