Oktoberfest is an annual event that has been held every October on Marktplatz in downtown, Fredericksburg, Texas since 1981. The massive celebration of the town's German heritage features plenty of German music, delicious food and beer, artisans market, children's fun and play area. For three days, the whole Fredericksburg sings, drinks, dances and listens to live music on four stages.

Over 50 varieties of the finest German and Texas Beer is available at the Strassen Zelt (Street Tent) on Adams Street as well as live music and non-stop entertainment: oompah, polka, waltzing, exhibitions, contests, and more. Two big tents are occupied by artisans offering souvenirs, arts and collectibles. More than 40 stalls offer handmade pottery, apparel, glassware, woodwork, and jewelry. Children can enjoy Kinderpark thanks to bungee jump, wheel of fortune, duck pond, clowns, face painting and more. Food vendors offer a variety of sausage, kraut, potato pancakes, and other Oktoberfest favorites.

The main highlights of Fredericksburg Oktoberfest include OkTUBAfest, Kraut Run, Hauptstrasse Chicken Dance, Histriker Competitions, Samuel Adams Beer Stein Hoist, Beer & Hymns, 42 domino tournament and Lederhosen Contest. Admission is $8 for adults. The festivals hours on Friday are : from 6pm to midnight; on Saturday: from 10am to midnight; and on Sunday: from 11am to 6pm. Admission is $8 for adults.
