Originated in 1991, Qingdao International Beer Festival or Asian Oktoberfest promotes economic and cultural exchanges between people of Qingdao and is held annually in the month of August. Top brewers from all around the globe, including Budweiser, Carlsberg, and such national giants like Beijing Beer and Tsingdao Beer are invited to take part in the celebration. As the Chinese are kind and generous, there is a chance for you to swim in 'GanBei' free-offered beer. Just picture yourself happy Chinese people, large tables filled with beer-swilling and attractive women dancing to a diverse music which is featured on numerous stages.
Festival's primary location is Qingdao International Beer Town, a place, where many of the performances happen. Catering, restaurants, and shops for a variety of tastes also belong to this area. During the celebration, Beer Town's Center Theatre becomes a home for bright everyday shows. Dramatic audio effects, colourful fountains and hi-tech laser shows are there to impress the audiences. More than 200 of such festivities take place across the city.
But not by beer alone! There are tons of Western and Chinese food when you are in need of a little nosh. And on a 30-minute walk from the east coast venue, there is a drop-dead gorgeous Shilaoren beach to chill on.
