The Red Bull Defiance is an annual multisport race held in Wanaka, New Zealand. The two-day event requires two-person teams of participants to overcome six stages and 154 km that include 71 km of mountain biking, 39 km of running, 40 km of kayaking and 60 km of abseiling with a total elevation gain of 4,080 m. Participants will compete on stunning mountain trails, Alpine landscapes with panoramic views, that surely make this race unforgettable.

About 85 mixed female and male teams take on the Red Bull Defiance in two categories: elite and sport. The money prize in the elite category is $24,000. Spectators of Red Bull Defiance are only allowed in certain areas. On the first day, they can view the race from West Wanaka Bridge, Rocky Mountain/Diamond Lake, and the Lake Wanaka shorefront. On the second day, spectators can observe the competition at the Outlet Camping Ground, Albert Town Bridge, Oxbow Driveway, Cardrona Valley, and at the finish which takes place at the Wanaka downtown.

Spectators and participants of the race can stay at Lake Wanaka camping ground enjoying its beautiful surrounding. Kayaking, jet boating and paddle boarding in Lake Wanaka are very popular in the summer.
