Hunting Season in Romania 2024-2025

Hunting in Romania means a wide range of game including brown bears and no problems with licensing. Hunting is followed by loud celebrations

Best time: August–mid-February

Romanian hunting is a real feast: not only does the country offer you a good variety of game, but you do not need to have a special permission to engage in this noble activity. On the contrary—the hunters from abroad are welcome to partake in chasing roebuck in Făgăraș, quail in Nistorești, thrush in Mizil, and chamois in Vâlcea or Făgăraș and famous local brown bears. Shooting is truly a big deal for Romanians, after the main hunt they celebrate with toasts and spirits and further festivities. The main season runs from mid-August to late winter, but at request it is possible to arrange a hunt for particular species at other times of the year.
