The International Motor Show Germany or Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) is the premier event for auto manufacturers in the whole world. The show dedicated to cars and motorcycles, known as IAA Mobility, takes place in Munich in odd-numbered years. Meanwhile, the commercial vehicles show, IAA Tranportation, is held in even-numbered years in Hannover. The show's organizer is the prestigious Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA—Association of the German Automotive Industry). The show attracts from 750,000 to 850,000 visitors.
IAA Transportation Show in Hannover (September 17-22, 2024)
Taking place at the Deutsche Messe AG venue, the IAA Transportation show demonstrates a wide array of commercial, logistics, and transportation vehicles. Visitors can browse hundreds of innovative and groundbreaking displays of the passenger vehicles at the exhibition space or listen to numerous panel talks at the conference space. At the IAA Experience, much of what was spoken about and displayed can be tried firsthand at a test drive. You can also test a cargo bike at an exclusive course, which is meant to replicate all the bumps and conditions when using this type of transport.

The show runs from 9 am until 6 pm on all days of the event. There are numerous ticketing options for the IAA Transportation show. A one-day weekday pass costs €28, while a pass to the whole event costs €74. If you want to enter after 1 pm, you can purchase an afternoon ticket for €13. Students, military personnel, volunteers and people with disabilities can purchase a discounted ticket for €9. A one-day weekend pass costs €10. If you're traveling as a family, consider purchasing a family pass for €20, which can be used on the weekend.
IAA Mobility Show in Munich (September 9-14, 2025)
The IAA Mobility Show, which was previously held in Frankfurt, has now moved to a new location in Munich. The event takes place at the Neue Messe München and the city center. The exhibition space features 18 buildings and is spread over 49 acres (200,000 sq m). Hundreds of exhibitors from about 40 countries gather at the venue to showcase the state-of-the-art vehicles. Over 50 passenger car brands from Europe, the US, and Asia are presented.
Visitors can witness first-hand the latest innovations, the newest cars, and technologies ensuring the future of mobility. Test drives on the off-road circuit are one of the most popular features of the show. Special classic car exhibitions (IAA Heritage and IAA Masterpieces) showcase unique vehicles that you won't see anywhere else. Industry professionals can participate in the IAA Conference, which is dedicated to visions of future transport and mobility. It attracts CEOs of the leading car producers in the world.
History of the Show
The history of the International Motor Show Germany dates back to 1897. The first show took place at the Hotel Bristol in Berlin. Eight vehicles were on display at that time. In the 1930s, the show was already super-popular, with about 300,000 attendees and up to 100 cars on display.
