The Oregon International Auto Show takes place every winter at the Oregon Convention Center. Previously known as the Portland International Auto Show, the largest auto show in the Pacific Northwest region features more than 600 vehicles by 35 producers. It occupies over 480,000 square feet (44,594 sq m) of exhibit space, showcasing the latest trends in car design and modern technology.
Car Show Program & Events
The Portland International Auto Show offers fantastic virtual reality car simulators, motorcycles, discussions, and talks with industry experts. Tech Center on the main floor provides a glimpse into the future of the car industry. You can learn about cutting-edge technology, download innovative apps, watch live demonstrations, and see state-of-the-art models like the new Solo three-wheel EV from Electra Meccanica.
PDX Rides presents a fantastic array of vehicles in categories like Speed, Performance, Tuner, Hot Rod, Muscle, Euro, Retro, Modified, and fully custom. There is also a kid's zone with many attractions and entertainment. Ride & Drives is the highlight of the show, offering a hands-on driving experience with many unique vehicles.
Attendees can also watch live how a custom car is built and explore the latest models of electric and driverless vehicles. For those looking for their next vehicle, the convention is a great chance to witness the newest cars in action, as well as their features, which just might set the standard for the upcoming manufacturing releases.
Convention Schedule & Tickets
The event usually spans from 10 am until 10 pm from Thursday through Saturday and from 10 am until 7 pm on Sunday. Tickets normally cost $20 for adults, $15 for seniors over 65 years old, $15 for military, and $10 for children between 10 and 15 years old. Older children can enter for free on Sundays, while children 9 years old and under can attend for free on any day of the convention. The event also offers package deals for families of four or a group of four adults, generally ranging from $50 to $72.
Location & Getting to the Center
Oregon International Auto Show has been annually taking place at the Oregon Convention Center, an expansive venue that offers plenty of space for exhibits, vendors, and panel talks. The center is fairly easy to reach by interstate highways from any direction. If you're traveling from the north, take I-5 North to exit 302A, then right onto NE Weidler St and MLK Jr Blvd. From the south, take I-5 South to exit 302A, cross NE Broadway then left on NE Weidler St and right on MLK Jr Blvd. You can also reach the venue by public transportation by hopping on Portland Streetcar or the TriMet bus.
Parking
Plenty of parking is available at the venue on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking garage under the Oregon Convention Center is the main parking spot, however, you can also choose to park on the nearby streets or any parking sites in the Lloyd neighborhood. Most parking options aren't free and require a fee, which varies around $12-20.
