The Pageant of Steam is a fascinating exhibition of vintage equipment. It showcases a vast outdoor display of operating farm machinery dating back to the early 1900s. Visitors can marvel at steam traction engines, antique tractors, shingle making, grain threshing and baling, Corliss steam engines, and antique gas engines. The event offers entertainment and educational value for the whole family.

Schedule of Events

The Pageant of Steam welcomes visitors from Wednesday through Saturday, with gates open from 8 am to 8 pm. The Pageant of Steam offers a variety of special displays and activities for attendees. Visitors can explore steam traction engines, antique tractors, shingle making, grain threshing and baling, Corliss steam engines, and antique gas engines. Demonstrations of plowing and sawmilling add to the hands-on experience.

Equipment parades start at 1 pm, followed by tractor pulls at 4 pm. A flea market and craft show provide additional entertainment, and a kids' scavenger hunt is available daily. The event also features a live auction on Wednesday and live music performances on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Saturday night features the Tractor Pull at 6 pm, and the Kiddie Pedal Pull starts at 2 pm on Friday. Food will be available at five concession stands.

The Pageant of Steam offers an engaging experience with affordable ticket prices. Adults can attend for just $10.00, while children under 12 enjoy free admission. Membership options are also available, with single memberships priced at $15 and family memberships at $25. On-site camping is available for $60. Visitors can take advantage of free parking, making it convenient for families and individuals alike to enjoy the event.

Origins of Pageant of Steam

The New York Steam Engine Association was founded by Wally Wood, Edward Faulkner, and Homer Prudom, sparked by their shared interest in steam engines. After initial meetings and a display at the New York State Fair in 1958, the association was formally established in 1960. Wally Wood served as the first president, with the club continuing to operate successfully to this day.
