Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 18, as European Museum Night unfolds across France and, of course, Provance. On this special evening, museums will welcome visitors free of charge from dusk until midnight.
Museums of Provence
Provence is famous for museums. This region's lifestyle and magnificent natural landscapes have attracted many painters and artists throughout the years, and now their works are in local museums and galleries. From the impressive collections of fine art to the intriguing displays of local history, Provence offers a diverse range of cultural experiences.
You can start your journey at the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence, renowned for its extensive collection of paintings, sculptures, and archaeological artifacts. The museum also has free admission on the first Sunday of the month. Then, venture to the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence, where you can immerse yourself in the mesmerizing world of optical art created by Victor Vasarely. Beyond the Night of Museums, the Foundation is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm.
Continue your exploration at the Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée in Marseille, a striking museum dedicated to the civilizations of Europe and Mediterranean civilizations. You might also visit Fondation Van Gogh in Arles. It is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Finally, don't miss the Musée Marc Chagall in Nice, where you can admire the breathtaking works of this renowned artist in a serene and inspiring setting. You can visit the museum daily (except Tuesdays, January 1, May 1, and December 25). From May 2 to October 31 opening hours are from 10 am to 6 pm. The museum will be open in June from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5:30 pm.

What to expect
Annually, European museums open their doors for free during the Night of Museums. The closing hour is postponed, and visitors can enter the museums at night.
