Dates: every full moon nights
A vibrant, all-night celebration held according to the lunar calendar, the Full Moon Party draws enthusiastic crowds to Haad Rin on Ko Pha-ngan's southeastern peninsula.
Full Moon Party History
In the 1980s, a group of tourists began enjoying the full moon nights on Koh Phangan, a Thai island that had been attracting a vibrant mix of travelers, especially backpacking hippies, since the 1970s. These travelers, often en route to or from India, stumbled upon the remote village of Haad Rin, which was difficult to access due to the lack of paved roads. Over time, this once-secret spot began drawing larger crowds, evolving into a renowned event. Today, the Koh Phangan Full Moon Party is a must-experience for millions of travelers, attracting 20,000–30,000 party-goers each month, depending on the season.
