Summer is the most anticipated season and certainly the best time to visit Helsinki. Once warm weather sets in, you can spend much more time outdoors. In June, take advantage of the “polar day” phenomenon and extended daylight hours, as well as celebrate Juhannis, Nordic-style midsummer festivities. July marks the Kaljakellunta, or a massive Beer Floating from Tammisto to the Pikkukoski beach. August is a perfect time for camping, attending music festivals, and wild berry picking. Autumn is quite beautiful in Helsinki as well, and the weather is not too cold. Helsinki doesn’t get much snow, so if you are looking for a “winter wonderland,” it’s worth traveling further north.
