Festival Silêncio 2018

The participatory festival celebrates the word integrating it into all forms of contemporary art

Dates: September 27–30, 2018 (over)

Silêncio does not focus on one precise form of art, it combines performances, video installations, poetry, multimedia shows, workshops, and more. As the events united under the name of the festival differ in form, Silêncio does not take place in one location, it is a series of events scattered among numerous venues within the neighbourhood of Cais do Sodré. You may walk down the street and suddenly run into an artist reading poetry to accompany a silent movie.

The main aim of this festival is to spread the understanding of art. Even though plenty of prominent contemporary artists come to the festival to present their latest works and to share their experience, Silêncio makes an emphasis on young artists and their promotion. Being established in 2009, the festival has already gained recognition as a significant cultural event in Lisbon.
