Best time of year to visit Morocco

Mild temperatures and moderate prices make April to May and September to November the best time to visit Morocco. With the arrival of spring, coasts become warmer and crispy fresh air makes Mount Toubkal a fantastic place to hike. Streets get noisier during the peak season from June to August, and the unbearable heat is in its position to annoy the sightseers. However, beaches are at their best in summer, and if you pass through the Souss Valley in June, be ready to discover so-called goat trees. Balmy autumn is an excellent choice for a trip if you plan to explore the cities of Marrakesh or Fez. Winter in Morocco sees a surge of prices and flow of tourists. January through February are perfect for skiing in the High Atlas Mountains as well as for desert trekking in Sahara, so pack clothes for all scenarios, as nights are cold.

Although January seems to be the coolest month of the year to visit Morocco, it is generally considered to be mild. Moreover, it is the right time if your priority is to escape the crowds. Down from the hotter months, authentic Moroccan daily living at its best is visible then. Even though the amount of rain in some ways depends on the chosen destination, let's face the fact: it will be rainy. So let an umbrella and your favorite jumper be your best friends. A great decision if you are in love with sightseeing and trekking. To be fair, the first month of winter gets its tiny hint of sunshine along with the mountains snowed in. Visiting a desert can be quite an option, just mind wrap up in layers as the air can be quite freezing.

If you are looking to escape the snow wherever you live in, sunny Morocco is ready to welcome you open-armed. This month is blessed with more sunny days and fewer rainfalls as compared to the previous one. Just bear in mind that the daytime warmth will sooner or later change to biting cold as the winter runs on. The desert is still the warmest place to explore, while temperatures in the mountains remain low. The February weather requires you to pack all-purpose clothes from swimsuits and lightweight apparel for chilling by the swimming pool and sightseeing to warm hoodies, scarves, and gloves for hiking in the Atlas mountains.

As in any other country, March marks the start of spring, a mild period when even breathing is a bliss. A faithful and eternal companions for the first spring month—unstable weather, gradually rising temperatures, and, of course, the rain. Plenty of it. Time spent by the coastlines might be sweet and sunny, while the other parts of a country undertake the stroke of rain. Anyway, the air still cools off rapidly as the sun goes down, so you'd better pack all-business. In March, the desert sees a high contrast between day and night temperatures while mountains still snowed in. So do yourself a favor, bring warm clothes together with a light t-shirt.

Warmer and longer days make April an actual start of the spring itself, which we gently in love with. Along with this, the nights are still fresh or even chilly. This period can be stunning for traveling all around the country as the weather in the daytime is equally pleasant both in the desert and in the mountains. Another good bonus—advisably moderate crowds. In April, conditions for sightseeing and other outdoor activities are close to perfection: the flowers spring up from under the once snowy ground and the landscape, in general, become greener day after day. However, there is still a good contrast between daytime and nighttime temperatures. That's why you'll need a variety of clothes just in case, apart from a camera which will help you to remember those charming spring transformations.

The title of the gateway to summer is not given for no reason. That's why May is considered to be one of the most fantastic times to visit Morocco. The weather is warmer, flower blooming is on its peak, and all the beauty of the region absolutely and pleasantly shocks. The heat is tolerable in May, which means heaven for lovers of outdoor activities. Sunny, dry, and a bit windy May might be perfect for the pastime on the beach. However, the sandstorms might happen around the desert, so packing the light scarf will be a good idea as well as dressing in layers when the evening comes. Also, don't forget what conservative country you are traveling to while packing. Linnen blouses, slacks, and long dresses will be your best relief in the heat of the day.

Being popular time of the year, this month marks the beginning of the hot and dry period in Morocco. Temperatures are still acceptable in most parts of the country. However, in inland cities, it can get hotter in the course of the daytime, and it is okay with them to get no rain. Once the sun goes down, the weather cools off a little, giving you a chance to breathe easily. In the High Atlas region, you might even find a trace of snow. That's why you'd better pack thoughtfully. Dehydration is a popular drawback while traveling across Morocco in the summertime, so let the bottled water be your best friend. As for the outfit, there are places where swimming suits or shorts are appropriate. However, packing plain, breathing, and loose clothes is advisable, to respect conservative locals. Add the hat, feathery scarf, and sunglasses as well as favorite warm sweater to be in your element at all times of the day.

July is the second hottest month of the year in Morocco. Being sunny, bright, and dry most of the time, it's like a piece of cake for the chords of tourists. Even though hot days make it unbearable to explore Sahara, you can always make it to the Atlas Mountains or the Atlantic coast as the temperatures are really comfortable there. Chilling by a pool with a breathtaking mountain view is another option as the weather is hot anyways. However, in the inland cities, you might even run into thunderstorms during a stay. During this month, our main aim is to stay cool being respectfully covered. So firstly, make sure you have a necessary amount of drinking water to stay hydrated. An important point about the clothes: just cover knees and shoulders not to draw undesirable attention. Pack tunics from natural fabrics as well as loose linen trousers and proper footwear. Another must-have—sunglasses and a hat to keep your eyes safe.

Morocco weather in August

August in Morocco would be just a regular summer month if it wasn't that horribly hot. To make the trip more bearable to take, choose the country's northern areas, mountains, or the coastlines. Inland destinations encounter unbelievable heat, drought, and no even a ring of rain throughout a month. In Sahara, it is even hotter. Use a trick the locals do to fight the daytime heat: stay indoors. After all, it's not that muggy outside after the sunset, and that's when the country revives. As the risk of dehydration in August is extensively high, a good piece of advice will be to drink bottled water time and again. When packing for a trip, grab the loose-fitting clothes that will both cover you from the sun and help you to stay cool. You can even bring an umbrella with you to hide from the agressive sun. Tourist locations might welcome swimsuits and shorts, but places like Mdina will urge you to cover knees and shoulders as a sign of respect to Islamic culture.

Morocco weather in September

The fall slowly arrives in Morocco in September. The days generally grow more refreshing, although it depends on the region you travel to. During this period, you can fully enjoy the balmy weather and, finally, exhale the unbearable summer heat. However, it is still hot across the inland areas, and Sahara is still not a great idea to explore. September is more about the beach, mountains, and North of the country where the weather is truly divine. Little rainfall throughout September makes it twice a great month to visit Morocco. Keeping yourself cool throughout a day is still on the top of the list as, after all, the temperatures remain high across the country. Pick cotton and linen outfit to be your good companion during the trip. Don't forget your favorite sunglasses and a hat to protect you from the sun as well as sandals or trekking shoes. As in September it gets a bit colder in the evening, pack a light jumper to keep you warm.

October tends to be the best month for planning a trip to Morocco. Temperatures are mild and comfortable enough for hiking in the mountains and exploring the cities. But you will see clearly how cool ocean breeze competes with the heat of the sun while spending time on the coast. Generally speaking, the weather is rather unstable throughout a month: hot days rotate with cool ones as well as rainy days–with rainy ones. Anyway, the dry season is wrapping up, and you will feel much confident with an umbrella by your side. The evening will be much warmer with a sweater or hoodie. But, of course, pack your favorite loose clothes for the hot Moroccan sun. Sleeved shirts and lights slack will fit perfectly. A hat and sunglasses are a must-have.

Morocco weather in November

The weather in Morocco in November depends on the place you travel to. Generally, the last month of the fall means shorter days and cooler weather. However, a comfortable climate is still preserved for you to discover the sights of inland cities. The coastlines and the mountains shouldn't be missed as well, but mind the chance of coastal winds and eventual snow. All around the country, temperatures slowly drop, and occasional rainfalls are also unavoidable. While planning a trip in November, it's advisable to bring clothes for every situation: from bathing suits and sleeveless shirts to hoodies and warm pajamas. And packing an umbrella must be at the top of your list.

Morocco weather in December

The start of Morocco's winter is mild and friendly, however, somewhat rainy. Basically, December brings many sunny days ideal for hiking and exploring the cities but also cooler nights. You'll definitely want to put on a jacket while visiting coastlines. Moreover, you'd like to dress even warmer in the Atlas Mountains where actual winter at higher altitudes is ready to show-up. The temperature is moderate in the northern regions of the country; still, the rain is more predictable here. In contrast, inland cities boast with much warmer weather. But even here, you'll need to wrap yourself as the sun goes down. When heading to North Africa in December, packing autumn clothes like jeans, sweatshirts, and warm pajamas will be your best idea. As December is deemed to be the rainiest month of the year in Morocco, mind taking an umbrella or waterproof jacket too.
