Honey can be a great ingredient in various Hungarian dishes. When visiting Hungarian cafes and restaurants try to order something from the following list: goat cheese with honey, honey coated lamb, keserű méz (honey beer), or Callas coffee (espresso with ginger, local honey, and divine whipped cream). You will be surprised how the sour or bitter taste of the main ingredient ideally combines with the sweetness of honey. You can continue tasting honey during the Kaposvár Zselic Honey Festival, which takes place in September. Among various sorts of honey, you should especially try the variety from acacia, as it is considered to be the pride of Hungarian producers.
