The Powell Gardens Festival of Lights is an impressive holiday experience in a unique place. A lighting exhibition in the botanical garden is curated by the Powell Gardens Horticulture staff. A one-mile pathway features numerous botanically themed light displays. This magical illuminated path goes through six of the seven themed sections.

A Christmas Tree is on display at the visitor's center.

Carolers will make you stroll through the garden, especially cheerful every Saturday. Santa Claus will join kids on the walkthrough Winter Wonderland, pose for pictures and will listen to holiday wishes on certain days. Holly Jolly Rest Stop at Heartland Harvest Garden offers refreshments and some warmth by the heaters. Snack with a sugar cookie and a hot drink, enjoy the train display, installed by the Mo-Kan Garden Railroaders Group, and explore the Missouri Barn Silo that also provides the best view of the garden. Kids will also enjoy a ride on the bedecked tram and a life-sized board game. More free activities for kids will be available each day from 4 to 8 p.m., including an ornament station and gift workshop. The display is open Thursday through Sunday and admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children aged 5 to 12.
