Every holiday season, which starts after Thanksgiving, over 165,000 people visit Celebration in the Oaks in City Park—one of the best holiday light festivals in the U.S. Imagine the beauty of thousands of lights showing different holiday themes! This nostalgic winter celebration will touch your heart. There is plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

Christmas Light Displays

A month-long light show in New Orleans City Park that started in the late 1980s features hundreds of thousands of colorful ​lights. The favorite light displays include animated “Cajun Night Before Christmas,” “Who Dat Tree,” as well as Snowman Mr. Bingle. Children love the miniature train that circles the park under the bright light displays. The Carousel amusement ride area is the most popular part of the park. The main highlight of Carousel Gardens is a 100-year-old historic Carousel with amazing hand-carved flying horses.

Driving Tour

City Park will be adorned with over one million twinkling lights, with breathtaking displays scattered along a 2.25-mile route. The Driving Tour lasts about 30 to 45 minutes, and visitors can tune in to 103.7 for holiday classics upon arrival. The Driving and Walking Tours run from 6 pm to 10 pm. Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and from 5 pm to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For pricing, the Bike Tour is $5 per person. Driving options include Cars/SUVs, ranging from $25 on Value Night to $80 with a Dasher Pass. Limousines, accommodating up to 15 guests, are priced between $150 and $190 with a Dasher Pass. Sprinter Vans, which can hold up to 20 guests, cost between $225 and $265 with a Dasher Pass.

Walking Tour

Enjoy an all-access pass to Storyland, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park—which boasts 18 rides sure to bring joy—and the elegant Botanical Garden, where you can create lasting memories under twinkling lights with your loved ones. This pass includes unlimited rides, including the City Park Train, marshmallow roasting, a cup of hot chocolate, photo opportunities, access to the iconic Botanical Garden, and the option to purchase food and beverages. Pricing is $25 per person when combined with the Driving Tour or $35 per person for standalone access, with limited availability.
