James Island Holiday Festival of Lights 2024-2025 in South Carolina
A dazzling holiday destination near Charleston
Dates: November 10–December 31
The Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park has been a favorite Charleston Christmas tradition for over 30 years. The light show with two million twinkling lights is open from mid-November through December. A 3-mile (5-kilometre) drive-through display will definitely put you in the holiday spirit. After enjoying the lights, visitors can explore other attractions that the park has to offer: marshmallow roasting, a walking trail, an old-fashioned Victorian carousel, and a climbing wall. Try delicious foods at Santa’s Sweet Shoppe and explore holiday shopping, gifts, and toys at Four Gift Shops.
Holiday Festival of Lights on James Island is more than just a Christmas display. It hosts the area’s largest holiday sand sculpture, created from 50 tons of sand. Kids will love to take a ride on the train for an up-close view of the light displays. Festival Express has scheduled rides that sell out quickly. Don't miss huge Christmas greeting cards created by local students that are on display in Winter Wonderland. The Dancing Trees is another attraction synchronized to the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Carol Of The Bells," and Mannheim Steamroller's "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah." The Enchanted Walking Trail will take visitors through dripping lights, rowdy woodpeckers, and colourful fairies buzzing through the illuminated trees.
