For something extra, consider figure or synchronized skating lessons to refine your skills. The magical and romantic atmosphere of these rinks has even made the iconic Wollman Rink a favorite backdrop in romantic films.
The Rink at Rockefeller Center (October 12, 2024–2025)
Ice skating at The Rink beneath the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a classic New York winter tradition. Whether enjoying special events or the cozy Après Skate Chalets presented by Balsam Hill, The Rink offers a magical experience. It’s located at Rockefeller Plaza between 49th and 50th Streets, with convenient access via the Rockefeller Center parking garage at 53 West 48th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues.
Hours & Tickets
The Rink at Rockefeller Center is open daily from 9 am to 12 am, with extended hours until midnight or 1 am on select dates. General Skate sessions last 60 minutes, with ticket prices ranging from $21 to $114 for adults and children, depending on the day. Toddlers (ages five and under) can skate for $11 to $55. Premium Skate tickets, priced at $47 to $155, include a 90-minute session and complimentary skate rental. Season passes are also available for $550 to $600. Skate rentals are included with tickets but are not required if you bring your skates (sizes range from toddler 9 to adult 16). For young skaters, penguin skate aids are available for an additional fee to assist with balance while learning to skate.
The Wollman Rink in Central Park (October 2024–March 2025)
Ice skating at Wollman Rink in New York City provides a delightful experience for skaters of all ages and abilities, set against the stunning backdrop of the city skyline. The rink is a vibrant winter destination, hosting special events, themed skating nights, and live performances. Conveniently located near Central Park’s southeast corner, the rink’s closest entrance is at 59th Street and 6th Avenue.
Hours & Tickets
The Wollman Rink in Central Park operates Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 2:30 pm, Wednesday and Thursday until 9 pm, and Friday through Sunday until 10 pm (9 pm on Sundays). Admission for adults ranges from $15 on off-peak days to $38 on prime days, while children aged 4–12 skate for $10 at all times, with one non-skating adult chaperone ticket included. Children 3 and under and seniors aged 65+ also enjoy free admission with a chaperone ticket.
Skate rentals are available for $12, or you can bring your own. Additional services include skate aid rentals for $25 (for children under 4 feet tall), skate sharpening for $20, and locker rentals for $8. Special WRAP tickets, which include admission, skate rental, and cocoa, are available for $15 with IDNYC or a New York Public Library Card during public skating hours. Community Days also offer free admission on select days.
Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park Rink (October 25, 2024–March 2, 2025)
The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park centers around its 17,000-square-foot rink, offering free-admission ice skating with high-quality rental skates, free skating shows, and seasonal events. Open daily throughout the Winter Village season, the rink is surrounded by festive attractions. The Holiday Shops by Urbanspace feature unique artisans from New York and around the world, perfect for holiday shopping. Visitors can also relax at The Lodge, an open-air après skate spot with festive cocktails, delicious food, and rinkside views. For a more private experience, the Curling Café and cozy igloos provide a unique way to enjoy this winter wonderland, located at 41st Street and 6th Avenue in New York City.
Hours & Skate Rentals
The Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park offers free ice skating for those with their own skates, while rentals range from $18.72 to $57.29, with discounts during off-peak times. Open Thursdays–Sundays from 8 am to midnight, and daily from December 1 to January 5, the rink provides 50-minute sessions. Premium packages ($156–$182) include skate concierge, snacks, Polar Lounge access, rentals, and extended ice time. Additional options include skate aids ($26, free before 10:30 AM if available), free helmet rentals, and skate sharpening ($20.80–$41.60). Tickets for skating sessions release daily a week in advance.
Roebling Rink in Brooklyn Bridge Park (November 25, 2024–February 2, 2025)
Nestled in Emily Warren Roebling Plaza in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Roebling Rink sits directly beneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Hours & Tickets
Roebling Rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park is open daily, offering 60-minute skating sessions. Admission is $10, with a 10% discount for groups purchasing ten or more tickets. Operating hours are Monday–Thursday from 2 pm to 9 pm (5 sessions) and Friday–Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm (8 sessions). Brooklyn residents can enjoy two free sessions: Sundays from 10–11 am and Mondays from 5–6 pm. Skates, helmets, and skate buddies are available for purchase with tickets in advance.
The Rink at Brookfield Place (November 16, 2024–March 2, 2025)
Considered one of Manhattan's best ice skating rinks, The Rink at Brookfield Place is a winter favorite located on the plaza in front of the Brookfield Place Winter Garden at 230 Vesey Street, New York, NY, 10281. Spanning 7,350 square feet, it offers plenty of space for skaters to enjoy the ice. After skating, head inside the downtown mall to warm up and explore its shops and dining options.
Hours & Tickets
The Rink at Brookfield Place operates Monday through Friday with 60-minute sessions available from 2 pm to 9:15 pm. On weekends and holidays, sessions run from 9 am to 9:15 pm. Weekday skating costs $15 per session, while weekend and holiday sessions are $17. Skate rentals are available for an additional $5 to $7.
