Origins of Schrammel.Klang.Festival

A festival dedicated to this unique branch of music is particularly fitting to honor the rich history of the renowned Viennese Schrammels and illuminate the genre's modern aspects. The famous Schrammel brothers, Johann and Josef, were pivotal in popularizing this distinct style of Viennese folk music in the late 19th century. Their father, Kaspar Schrammel, born and raised in Litschau, established the town as the birthplace of Schrammel music, marking it as the cradle of Viennese Heurigen and dance music. In recent years, thanks to our initiative, many new young groups have emerged, continuing the legacy and expanding the boundaries of Schrammel music.
