5 Fingers in Dachstein Salzkammergut, Austria 2025

Not for the faint-hearted! The 5 fingers viewing platform is an amazing architectural construction, containing the main platform and 5 separate stands. It gets its name from being constructed in the shape of a hand. This is probably the most spectacular viewing platform in the Alps. If you are brave enough you can enjoy the view from the very end of the finger platforms. This is truly a unique opportunity to see the beauty of Hallstatt, Hallstättersee lake, and the Salzkammergut region where the birds soar. Important to note is that the platform is closed every year from late October until May.

Once you are there, check out another viewing platform—Welterbespirale, located only a few minutes away from the Dachstein Krippenstein mountain cable car station. It provides great views from the aluminium ‘ship’, an excellent photo point and a few comfortable relaxing recliners.
