The Walt Disney World Marathon is an annual weekend race that takes place every January in Orlando, Florida. The marathon organized by Disney Sports Enterprises lies through all 4 Walt Disney World Theme Parks and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Runners are welcomed by Disney characters and are promised surprises each step of the way. The race features lots of Disney style entertainment for the whole family.
The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend includes not just a classic marathon, but also a half-marathon, a 5K, a 10K races, as well as Goofy, Dopey, and Castaway Cay Challenge. The first Disney marathon was held in 1994, featured 5,588 runners. In 2010 the marathon enjoyed record participation of 55,000 runners.
The Walt Disney Marathon is accompanied by runners' Expo, the Pre-race Pasta Party and a Post Race Celebration festival with lots of food, fun and various activities.
