Zaidee's Mad Cow Mud Run in Shepparton-Mooroopna 2025, Victoria
One of the funniest races in southeast Australia
Dates: February 22, 2025 (over)
The Mad Cow Mud Run has long been a beloved annual event in Shepparton-Mooroopna, Victoria, held every February. Known for its hilarious and entertaining atmosphere, participants could choose between a 6K and a 9K course, while children enjoyed a special 3K course on the day before. However, the event has now been officially canceled and will not return in the future.
Event Highlights
All races started and finished at Kidstown, featuring Howe Park and the Mooroopna Golf Course. The course was full of fun obstacles: lots of water, mud, and various adventures along the way. Overall, there were over 65 obstacles on the adult course.
2025 Edition
In November 2025, it was revealed that Zaidee's Mad Cow Mud Run has officially been canceled for this year and will not return in the future. The decision comes after unsuccessful efforts over the past year to find a new organizer as Zaidee's charity moves away from managing event-based activities.
Challenges such as the lingering effects of COVID-19, economic hardships, and natural events like floods have made it increasingly difficult to sustain and fund the event.
Participation
Mad Cow Mud Race was one of Victoria's largest and best obstacle races for the whole family and has been held since 2012. It was suitable for all fitness levels and every age group. Kids older than 13 years of age were able to participate in the adult event with permission from their parents. The kids' course was designed for children between 5 and 12 years.
The proceeds from the race went to Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation. It received sponsorship funds and donations as well as profit from the Mad Cow Mud Run. The foundation helps to save lives by donating organs and tissue.
