Costa Rican coffee is mainly of Arabic type and regularly wins international contests. Coffee trees usually give harvest after three to five years. Don't miss the chance to visit coffee plantation during harvesting time.
The largest growing areas are in the provinces of San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Puntarenas, and Cartago. Coffee picking seasons vary depending on the region, overlapping in October–Ferbuary.
