Olives and Olive Oil in Athens 2024-2025

The image of a wild olive tree is closely associated with ancient Greek mythology, and it is believed to have been brought to Greece by the Goddess Athena. Nowadays, millennia-old olive groves are scattered throughout Greece. Greek olives are fantastic both raw right from the tree and cured in a sea salt brine. As to olive oil, it seems like no meal goes without a few drizzles of this Greek elixir—anything from salads to dips is seasoned with olive oil. Fresh oli​ves and virgin olive oil can be enjoyed during harvest time between October and March.
