The image of a wild olive tree is closely associated with ancient Greek mythology, and it is believed to have been brought to Greece by the Goddess Athena. Nowadays, millennia-old olive groves are scattered throughout Greece. Greek olives are fantastic both raw right from the tree and cured in a sea salt brine. As to olive oil, it seems like no meal goes without a few drizzles of this Greek elixir—anything from salads to dips is seasoned with olive oil. Fresh olives and virgin olive oil can be enjoyed during harvest time between October and March.
