Fig trees have been growing in Greece since ancient times, the only difference between the past and the present is that formerly export was prohibited. This nutritious and delicious fruit is considered one of the key ingredients in Greek cuisine. One may indulge in fresh figs in abundance during the harvest season, namely from mid-August to September, however, they are also good dried, fermented, and cooked.
