This traditional dense fruit cake, made with prunes, raisins, dates and other fruit soaked in rum, is a popular delicacy during Christmas holidays in Jamaica.
Christmas Cake in Jamaica has a variety of alternative names like Jamaica Black Cake, Christmas Fruit Cake, and even Jamaican Wedding Cake. It is dark, rich and delicious with rum being an inevitable component of it.
This dessert has roots in the region's Colonial heritage and is famous not only in Jamaica but also throughout the English-speaking Carribean islands.
Although it looks like Black Cake contains a lot of ingredients, it is effortless to make, especially if you have access to a food processor.
