Best time: January–March
It is perfect time to start a beach season in the south during the winter months. Visit Mirissa, Unawatuna and surroundings to get the best tan. Other southern resorts include Kalutara, Beruwala and Bentota with endless beaches and hotels.
North of Colombo you can visit the popular resort of Negombo. Further up the coast are the perfect deserted beaches of Kalpitiya peninsula, great for dolphin-watching and diving.
