Le Train Lézard Rouge in Tunisia 2024-2025
Sit down comfortably and just ride into history
Best time: all year round
The historical Tunisian train goes through the picturesque desert from the city of Metlaoui and back. This unique train dates back to 1911 when it was the property of the Bey of Tunis. Now its passengers are mostly tourists. The journey takes you through the beautiful Selja Gorges and lasts 1 hour 45 minutes. If you travel by bicycle, you can also join the ride—there will be enough space for your vehicle.
The trip is available all year round. It departs at 10 am or 10.30 am, the schedule may vary depending on the season or weekdays. It's possible to rent the train for a group tour.
