Dougga is a historical landmark composed of ancient ruins near the town of Téboursouk. In 1997, UNESCO qualified Dougga settlement as a World Heritage Site. This city is the best-preserved Roman small town in North Africa. Every year, one of the most beautiful festivals happens on the territory of archaeological digs. The ancient theatre, which accommodates more than 3,500 people, hosts a truly colorful and unforgettable event. People dance, sing and watch classic theatre performances on the stage from actual Roman times.
Dougga Site
You are welcome not only observe the cultural life of Tunisia but also walk around the stone streets of the city. The views here are incredible: old places like the capitol or Temple of Saturn on the mountain with an overlook of wheat fields. The site consists of approximately 160 acres (65 ha).
Festival Lineup
Prominent North African artists take the stage of the Dougga Roman Theatre and stun the spectators with soulful performances of their best hits. This year, the lineup features Maghreb pop star Mortadha Ftit, Egyptian rock band Cairokee, Egyptian singer Mai Farouk, Algerian artist TIF, PSYCLWN & Mounir Troudi, A.L.A, Tunisian composer Anouar Brahem, and Ziara. The genres vary from classical music to rock and North African pop.
Tickets & Hours
The cost of tickets ranges from 27 Tunisian dinars to 75 Tunisian dinars, with some concerts costing 37,5 Tunisian dinars and 53,5 Tunisian dinars to attend. Most performances take place at 10 pm at the Roman theatre.
