Held in an urban neighborhood of Uptown, the Uptown Art Fair is one of the largest yearly events in Minneapolis. The fair is known for being a meeting spot for hundreds of local and national artists who display their most prized works of art. Beautiful wood carvings, sculptures, oil and acrylic paintings, and glass-blown dinnerware are just a drop in the ocean of the Uptown Art Fair's art selection. Temporarily relocated to the Bachman's Floral, Home & Garden Center, the event is a great opportunity to discover new and unique artworks while enjoying food, music, and educational workshops.

Fair Attractions

During the event, attendees have a chance to take a stroll around the venue and observe some of the most stunning pieces of art. The art market features showpieces from 12 mediums, including ceramics, two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, drawings, jewelry, sculptures, wood, glass, and fiber crafts, prints, paintings, and photographs. You can support talented youngsters from 8 up to 18 years old who present their own artwork at the Youth Art Fair. To unleash your creativity in the form of graffiti, stop by Sprayfinger's art demonstrations and classes.

Home-grown produce, honey, and other artisan goods are sold at the Uptown Art Fair Marketplace, while local food vendors offer dozens of delectable food options at their stalls. Ranging from donuts and ice cream to tacos and kettle corn, the menu has something for everyone. Alcoholic beverages are also sold at the fair, with a variety of cocktails, beers and ciders to choose from.

Location & Parking

The fair has been regularly held in Uptown at Lake Street and Hennepin Avenue. However, this year, the event temporarily relocated to Bachman's Floral, Home & Garden Center due to road construction. The new venue is situated at Lyndale Avenue and provides a picturesque backdrop to the festivities. The Uptown neighborhood offers plenty of parking options, including the Southdale Hospital East Parking Ramp and parking at 66th Street.

Admission & Schedule

Admission to the fair is completely free. The venue usually welcomes new visitors from 10 am until 4-5 pm on both days of the fair, giving you plenty of time to browse the stalls and pick out a new painting or art piece for your home.

History of the Fair

The Uptown Art Fair was first held on August 7th, 1964, in the form of a two-day event aimed to promote the arts and fund other projects in Minneapolis. There were a few hiccups along the way, such as city's restrictions on street sales, which thankfully, were amended. Right now, the scale of the fair grew, with the event drawing in more than 150,000 attendees during its run.
