Every July 4th, thousands of people get together in the Upper Midwestern region to celebrate freedom and the spirit of independence. In addition to fireworks, celebrations usually offer an array of family-friendly activities and patriotic music. Red, White & Boom, held on the West side of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, is a top 4 of July event in the Twin Cities.

Red, White & Boom! starts at 6 pm at the Water Works and Stone Arch Bridge parking lot on the Downtown Riverfront. Evening festivities feature live music, various entertainment, and food vendors. Some of Minneapolis’ best food trucks offer a wide range of options, which suit all tastes. The fireworks start at 10 pm. The skies are dotted with thousands of bright lights, illuminating the river and the Minneapolis skyline and creating unforgettable memories.

Lineup

In 2024, the Live Music stage hosts DJ Angel Beloved at 6 pm. Enjoy an electrifying mix and get ready to move to the sounds of dynamic tunes. At 8:30 pm, Big Mike Retro Soul & the Westside Horns from Twin Cities will take the stage to continue the exhilarating music experience with an eclectic blend of blues rock, R&B favorites, and oldies from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, including classic hits from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The concert lasts till the start of the pyrotechnic show.

The Fourth in the Park

The Fourth in the Park is the primary July 4 parade in the Twin Cities and one of the longest-running parades in the state. Taking place at St. Anthony Park Neighborhood, the Parade is an authentic old-fashioned, small-town procession, with community groups, kids on decorated bikes, military units, and more. The Parade takes off at 11 a.m., going down Como Avenue from Luther Place. It ends at Langford Park with a picnic on the grass, food, and music. Food trucks will be available with options for the whole family. Fun at Lanford Park will resume at 4 pm with the festive Back To The Fourth Concert, running till 6 pm.
