Baton Rouge 4th of July Fireworks, Shows, Events & Parades 2024

Dress your best red, white, and blue, and come to salute Independence with fireworks on the river!

Dates: July 3–4, 2024

Among a plethora of smaller and bigger events running throughout the capital of Louisiana, you can find live music performances, excellent dining opportunities, and, of course, fireworks. The most vibrant area to celebrate the 4th of July is Downtown Baton Rouge, with its rich nightlife and vibrant restaurant scene. However, the rest of the city also has a lot to offer, including Kenilworth Independence Day Parade, 4th of July Fest, firework shows on the Mississippi River and in Krotz Springs.

Kenilworth Independence Day Parade (July 3, 2024)

The local community of Kenilworth, a neighborhood of Baton Rouge, treasures and cherishes its annual Independence Day Parade. The 52nd edition of the parade is set to begin on July 3rd at 6:30 pm. The procession will follow its traditional route from Kenilworth Science & Technology School on Boone Drive through Kenilworth Parkway and finish off the celebration at its starting point. Each year, the event gathers more than 50 participants, showing off their red, white, and blue floats and costumes. A fascinating tradition of the parade is the annual honoring of Resident of the Year.

Fourth Fest in Port Allen (July 4, 2024)

The July 4th Fest is annually held at Port Allen's Riverfront on the banks of the Mississippi River. Family festivities start at 4 pm and include all kinds of child-friendly entertainment: magicians, clowns, and spacewalks. If you'd like to celebrate the holiday with themed makeup, face-painting artists will also be available at the festival. The event is accompanied by exhilarating live music from local bands, such as Rockin' Mozart School of Music Youth Bands and Foret Tradition. The performances last from 5 pm until 10 pm. The fireworks display lights up the skies at 9 pm.

Fireworks on the Levee (July 4, 2024)

Patriotic firework show is typically a part of the July 4th Fest and it remains the absolute favorite of the local public. The fireworks are provided every year by WBRZ-TV, a local television channel and can be seen from various points across the city, from either side of the Mississippi River. The spectacle lasts from 9 pm until 9:25 pm. If you can't make it to the venue in time, you can enjoy a live telecast on WBRZ News 2's Youtube channel, WBRZ.com, or 24 Hour News Channel WBRZ+.

Krotz Springs Fireworks on the River (July 4, 2024)

When planning your 4th of July weekend in Baton Rouge, feel free to explore the nearby towns and cities, for example, Krotz Springs, a small town situated along the Atchafalaya River, a branch of the Mississippi River. Despite its size and population, hundreds of residents gather yearly at Nall Park to watch the magnificent fireworks demonstration. The celebration will begin at 6:30 pm and last until 8 pm.

Thanks to three covered areas in the park, you can grab your own blanket, settle down for a picnic with your family, and reserve the best viewing spot to enjoy the fireworks. If you didn't bring your own food, treat yourself to a hot dog or a watermelon from a food court, while listening to live performances of local musicians.
