Family-friendly activities

Lastly, if you're looking for things to engage in with your little ones during the daytime, you may want to visit Fort Wayne Children's Zoo and explore local animals and rides. With four different areas spread over 40 acres (16 ha), you will surely find something to keep your kids interested. Alternatively, hop aboard a Sweet Breeze Canal Boat Tour departing from Promenade Park. You can opt for a 45- or a 90-minute journey across the city's beautiful waterways.

Live entertainment

Besides the annual events listed above, Fort Wayne offers various activities to glorify the 4th of July. If you're into live music, go to The Landing, which typically hosts some bands each year in a rotating location. In addition, check out Clyde Theatre, which is likely to boast a special evening program too.

TinCaps 4th of July Game & Fireworks (July 4, 2024)

In addition to the central firework show, you can also check out Parkview Field. Traditionally, on Independence Day, the stadium hosts the TinCaps 4th of July Game, which starts at 6:05 pm and continues until 9 pm. After baseball, everyone is welcome to stay in their seats and see the patriotic fireworks light up the sky. The tickets range from $7 to $14, depending on the zone you choose.

Run, White and Blue 5K (July 4, 2024)

Another way to glorify the Fourth is with a Run, White and Blue 5K event. Wear your best red, white, and blue sports outfit and come for the registration at Shoaff Park, Conklin Pavilion at 8 am. Keep in mind that the registration is open until June 30th. The race itself is scheduled for 9 am and will last for another 2 hours. The entrance fee for the participants under 14 is $15, while those on the older side pay $35. Also, the organizers offer a lighter option of a 1-mile walk for those who don't feel like running a 5K. The event is a fun way to celebrate America's Independence Day for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

The City of Fort Wayne Fireworks (July 20, 2024)

The main annual celebration takes place at the Indiana Michigan Power Center, as a part of the 'Three Rivers Festival'. While the fest spans 9 days, the fireworks display is scheduled for July 20th. You can observe the spectacle free of charge from various corners of the city. The fireworks are launched off the top of the building at 10 pm, and before the show, you can enjoy a performance by Fort Wayne Community Band at Freimann Square. The event is organized by the Founder’s Club and the Hoosier Lottery, and it is considered to be one of the largest pyrotechnic shows in Indiana.
