Berlin Biennale 2025
Every other year numerous Berlin venues turn into contemporary art galleries
Dates: June–September, 2025
Every few years the Berlin Biennale becomes the highlight of German capital's cultural scene. The Berlin Biennale is a contemporary art hub that explores and experiments with the modern art trends. The character of the Biennale is planned to expand to give young artists an opportunity to exhibit their art to a wider audience. What makes the event even more exciting and intriguing is that every year it is held in different venues and is curated by different organisations and people.
Berlin Biennale Goal
The Berlin Biennale takes place every two years in different locations throughout Berlin. The event provides artists with the opportunity to experiment with formats and offers space and freedom for artistic ideas regardless of the art market. Additionally, it's an art space that increases the popularity of contemporary art in Berlin.
History
As a result of the Venice Biennale in 1995, the idea of establishing a biennale in Germany was born. Founded in 1996 by Klaus Biesenbach, founding director of the KW Institute for Contemporary Art and collectors and patrons of the arts such as Eberhard Mayntz, the Berlin Biennale has become one of the most important international platforms for the exposition of contemporary art.
