It might seem odd to ride a donkey and participate in donkey races in order to win the love of a girl. However, in a Camposano commune in Naples it is perfectly alright. It is even a matter of respect, especially if it comes to competitions.

The tradition is said to have started in the late eighteenth century and has been flourishing until now. Of course, there is no actual girl to race for now, but there is usually a dressed up girl to reenact the one whose beauty started the race so many years ago.
