The festival that can last as much as seven days aims to show the respect towards the ancestors who come back to earth during this period each year and may be really hungry. Therefore, people gather at altars or just at temples and leave plenty of food and other offerings. However, the main food attraction is a famous red turtle made of sugar and flour that is supposed to bring lots of luck and, thus, becomes the most popular gift of the period for ethnic Chinese as well as for anybody else.
