Christmas at Powis Castle 2024-2025 in Wales

The darkest winter nights brighten up around the magic gardens of Powis Castle. During the Christmas festivities, you'll have the opportunity to see this spectacular castle with special decorations and backlit lead statues dancing in spotlights and visit interesting events, which are held here from late November till Christmas Eve. Festival Program

This year, Powis Castle transforms into a Dickensian story and immerses you into the world of the Christmas Carol. During this time, days you can visit some special premises of the castle as well. During Christmas, Powis Castle features a range of different creative Christmas trees and gift shops. Or you can simply drink a glass of mulled wine in one of the cafes and enjoy a traditional mince pie. Father Christmas is there in his grotto with presents for the kids as well. The most special event is the annual Christmas carol concert of the Chester St. Cecilia Singers, which takes place in the castle's ballroom. In fact, the Powis Castle Christmas atmosphere can easily make you fall in love with this winter destination.

Courtyard Christmas Illumination (December 13–23, 2024)

On selected dates, you might be lucky to witness a special lighting display illuminating the lofty walls of the Powis Castle. The imposing building is adorned with hundreds of Christmas lights, which create a magical atmosphere that transports you back into the past. Additionally, the castle is known for hosting stunning projection shows. The opening hours are extended during this time and you can visit the grounds from 4:30 pm to 7 pm.

Opening Times & Schedule

There is a slew of fun to experience in every part of the castle. The castle is open for visitors from 10 am until 4 pm in November, December, and January. During the days with the light display, the castle usually stays open until 7 pm.

Tickets & Admission

To enjoy Christmas events at Powis Castle, you need to purchase a general admission ticket. Standard admission costs £15 for adults, £7.50 for children, £37.50 for family, and £22.50 for one adult with three children. If you'd like to contribute to a meaningful cause, which supports the work of the National Trust Fund, consider purchasing Gift Aid tickets, which are slightly more expensive than the standard admission tickets.
