The darkest winter nights brighten up around the magic gardens of Powis Castle. During the Christmas festivities, you'll have the opportunity to see this spectacular castle with special decorations, backlit lead statues dancing in spotlights, and visit interesting events which are held here from late November till Christmas Eve.

These days you can visit some special premises of the castle as well. The castle features a range of different creative Christmas trees and gift shops. Or you can simply drink a glass of mulled wine in one of the cafes and enjoy a traditional mince pie. Father Christmas is there in his grotto with presents for the kids as well. The most special event is the annual Christmas carol concert of the Chester St. Cecilia Singers which takes place in the ballroom at Powis Castle.

2020 update: As a result of the pandemic safety measures, Powis Castle and Garden National Trust members have decided not to run the traditional Christmas Illuminations event this year. They are planning to keep the garden and castle grounds open for visitors to enjoy over the Christmas period if this is possible under government guidance at the time. Also, there will be a Peter Rabbit trail running daily from 5 December for our youngest explorers. Please, check the official website for the latest information.
