Rudolfina Redoute 2025 in Vienna
This masked ball is one of the most romantic events at the Imperial Palace
Dates: March 3, 2025
Rudolfina Redoute is the oldest ball of its kind, which was founded by a student fraternity. The event is held on Carnival Monday (Rosenmontag), which usually falls on Shrove Monday at the very beginning of Lent.
Redoute Tradition
According to the ball's tradition, all the ladies at the ball who come alone or with a partner are supposed to wear a mask to cover their eyes and invite someone to dance. During the entire evening, only women with masks on can invite other men to dance. After midnight, women take their masks off, just like in 'The Bat,' Johann Strauss' operetta. This is the culmination of the evening, which makes the Rudolfina Redoute a favorite among the Viennese. The party continues into the early hours of the morning, with unmasked women and men dancing the night away.
Tickets & Schedule
Admission costs €126 per person, while reduced admission, which doesn't include seating, costs €53. The venue opens at 7:30 pm, followed by an opening ceremony at 9 pm. The entire evening is accompanied by classical music and live performances. At 4:25 am, the last dance is announced, followed by the closing of the ball at 4:30 am.
Location
This magical event takes place in Vienna Hofburg, a beautiful imperial palace situated in the heart of Vienna. The palace is one of the examples of Baroque Revival architecture and boasts 24 imposing Corinthian columns in its Hall of Ceremonies and 18 wings, all of which together house around 2,600 rooms.
