Des Moines Con is a comic convention dedicated to anime, horror, TV, film, art, cosplay, video games, and all things popular culture. It gathers thousands of Marvel, Star Wars, LEGO, Disney, Star Trek, and Power Rangers fans at Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. The convention is organized by Nerd Street Events, which also holds Central Florida Comic Con, Star Con Orlando, Twin Cities Con, and Alaska ComiCon.
Des Moines Con features a large exhibition floor with dozens of vendors offering comic books, clothes, games, collectibles, and more. Artist Alley is a unique space where fans can meet creators, including 2D artists, 3D artists, writers, illustrators, and cosplay artists.
The convention provides plenty of opportunities to interact with celebrities, such as pro wrestler Johnny Gargano, Austin St. John (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers), Kel Mitchell (All That, Kenan & Kel, Goodburger, Dancing With The Stars), Aaron Dismuke (Fruits Basket, Fullmetal Alchemist), Josh Grelle (My Hero Academia, Yuri On Ice, Attack on Titan, Soul Eater), and others. Des Moines Con runs from 10 am until 6 pm on Saturday and from 10 am until 4 pm on Sunday. Tickets start at $15.
