Comic-Con International started in San Diego in 1970 as a group of comic, movie, and science fiction fans. Nowadays, Comic-Con International has grown into a huge event that gathers over 130,000 attendees. You will meet thousands of gamers, programmers, anime devotees, and fantasy fans here. The event is now the biggest pop culture extravaganza in the world.
Festival Events
The four-day event's main stage is the San Diego Convention Center. Various activities include workshops, discussions with top stars and directors, screenings, a Film Festival, and previews of upcoming blockbusters. The biggest stars come to meet their most devoted fans and vice versa. Most of the participants wear their elaborate costumes and act like their heroes. It's a true heaven for comic fans.
Special Guests
Comic-Con International 2024 will host special guests, including Bill Amend, creator of the FoxTrot comic strip; Charles Ardai, Edgar Award–winning creator of the bestselling Gun Honey comics and co-creator of Hard Case Crime; Rodney Barnes, award-winning writer, producer, and comic book creator; Liz Climo, cartoonist, animator, and author; Daniel Clowes, acclaimed American cartoonist, illustrator, and screenwriter; Gerry Conway, known as "the man who killed Gwen Stacy"; and many more.
Shuttel Bases
The Festival's free shuttle service picks up guests in downtown, Mission Valley, and hotels near airports on Shelter Island and Harbor Island. On July 25-27, 2024, the service starts its first route at 5 am and runs to 1 am. On July 28, the shuttle is available from 5 am to 7 pm, with the frequency changing throughout each day. There is no shuttle service from 1 am to 5 am during festival days.
Parking
There are available ACE Parking within easy walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center for Comic-Co. A lottery will be held first, and then the system will be made available to the general public.
