Voss in Western Norway is the host city of the world's largest festival of extreme sports. Ekstremesportveko mixes national and international sports and culture, mingling sporting events and competitions with concerts and other cultural performances.
Extremesportveko hosts competitions in sky-diving, paragliding, hang gliding, rafting, kayaking, climbing, mtb-bmx, skateboarding, multisport, freeride, big air, speed riding, cliff diving, biketrial, wind tunnel, BASE and longboarding. Serious sports are aimed at equally serious athletes, both national and international. Don't be misled into thinking of these as competitions for the sake of competitions only. That's not always the main focus. When hundreds of the world's top athletes gather at one point, they are also eager to share their knowledge and learn from each other.
Although the main emphasis of Ekstremsportveko is put on sports, the music part is also an integral element of the program. Throughout the extreme sports week, visitors may enjoy several events such as Movie Night, Boogie Party, shows and concerts. The last three days offer vibrant entertainment from national and international bands and DJs performing various genres from pop and rock to funk and reggae.
The sports festival takes place annually in Voss between late June and early July.
