Medieval Festival of Courage 2024

A vibrant event that harkens back to times when knights roamed the land

Dates: early October 2024

The Medieval Festival of Courage has been celebrating chivalry, frivolity, and agricultural traditions at Blue Lake, California, since 2003. This resplendent event spans Blue Lake Horse Arena behind Perigot Park over a weekend in early October. Expect to observe the prowess of the noble Knights of Valour as they compete in jousting and swordplay tournaments. Then, marvel at the deft hands of artisans and craftsmen, fashioning intricate trinkets. The festivities showcase medieval music, dance and aerial performances, royal horses and pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo, and lots of family fun. Plus, the fairgrounds hosts a tavern, where you can glug some good ales or mead.

The gates are open from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Jousting is scheduled for 12:30 and 3:30 pm each day. Horseback Archery is available at 11:30am and 2:30pm daily. Additionally, the first 200 kids get a special opportunity to join an Enchanted Village Tour from 10 am to noon on Saturday.

Coastal Grove Charter School is in charge of organizing the Medieval Festival of Courage. Admission for adults is $10, whereas kids (from three to twelve years old) get in at $5, and younger are free to enter. The profits benefit local schools. See details and announcements on the event's official website in our External Resources below.

Accommodations evaporate at festival time, so make sure you've bagged a bed early. The nearby hotel options are presented on the map, which must be handy.
