Put on your best green outfit and attend the annual Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade and an all-day festival at Sugden Plaza. The parade dates back to the period when local Irishmen got together and decided to organize a march. It is now the largest private St.Patrick's event in the state and draws over 40,000 people. The Naples St. Patrick Foundation sponsors it.
The Naples St. Patrick's Day Parade features floats, fire engines, school groups, marching bands, dance troupes, and more. The parade's staging area is located at Saint Ann’s Church in Old Naples. The show starts there at 11 a.m. and then travels down 3rd Street South to 5th Avenue, it goes down 8th Street South to end at Crayton Cove. Many spectators wear green and festive clothes. Kids love to catch candy and other goodies from the participants of the parade.
The flag raising ceremony is held at 9:30 a.m. before the parade at The Dock Restaurant at Crayton Cove. The ceremony honors veterans and public safety personnel.
