St. Patrick's Day 2024 in Denver
Denver's healthy way of celebrating St. Patrick's Day
Dates: March 10, 2024 | March 16, 2024
Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade by Bellco (March 16, 2024)
This annual event is Denver's ultimate Irish celebration, presented by Bellco Credit Union. Over 10,000 people participate in the parade, more than 200,000 join as spectators, and around 300 individuals usually come as volunteers. The festivities usually start at 9:30 am in front of Union Station. But you should arrive early to stake out the most convenient vantage points. If you come with your family, the best spots must be at the end of the route on Blake Street (renamed Tooley Street for the occasion), namely from 23rd to 27th Avenues. But if you come alone, wish to get the best view of dancing sets and so on, and don't mind standing for a while, opt for 20th Avenue. Just remember that this place is the most crowded, and folks start gathering here as early as 6 am. The last tip: dress in layers for March treachurous weather. This year's parade is still being planned, so follow their website or Facebook page (see External resources) to stay tuned for any forthcoming updates.
Runnin' of the Green (March 10, 2024)
Beyond St. Patrick's Day Parade, Denver residents love to engage in sports on this holiday. You can join locals in the annual jogging races, known as Denver's Classic Irish Jog, which basically mark the beginning of the running season. Whether you opt for a Lucky 7-mile (11 km) route or a simpler 2-mile (3 km) Leprechaun Leap, have no doubt that the views of Denver's gorgeous downtown will inspire you for days to come. What else? Plenty of good beer, live music, and Irish dancing performances. Participants come together for the race at Washington Park early in the morning. Registration is scheduled to start at 8:30 am, whereas the runs begin at about 10 am. Irish Post Event Celebration continues onwards through 12:30 pm.
