Denver was named one of the top cities to celebrate New Year's by Travel + Leisure. On New Year's Eve, The Mile High City throws concerts, parties, and family-friendly events. In 2020, things will be somewhat different as local authorities have worked hard to ensure socially safe celebrations.
To get into the holiday mood on December 31, you can checkout magical holiday light displays across the city. The Mile High Tree on 16th Street Mall at Welton Street promises a mesmerizing lights-and-music show and free festivities. The 9NEWS Parade of Lights is usually a one-day event, but in 2020 it was transformed into a safe extravaganza of activities and installation across downtown Denver. Thus, you can view the iconic parade floats until December 31 at numerous locations from Denver Pavilions to Denver Union Station. Blossoms of Light at Denver Botanic Gardens and Denver Zoo Lights are excellent holiday light events with nature in mind.
The Mile High City boasts lots of events and parties. Some of them are canceled due to health and safety concerns, though. One of the top parties to ring in the New Year in style is White Rose Gala at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This high-end charity awareness event gathers elegant guests in flapper dresses and dapper fedoras to enjoy the night of musical and theatrical performances.
Denver's 16th Street Mall New Year celebration with spectacular fireworks is another party magnet in the area, which usually draws cheerful crowds of about 100,000. Unfortunately, this year, the fireworks won't ring in 2021 at 16th Street Mall, and all the live music and DJ's will have to wait until the next year. Well, check the last moment for the party updates, and bring some great New Year's Eve memories from The Mile High City.
