Dates: June 21–23, 2024

Frederick in Flight Hot Air Balloon Festival is an annual celebration of ballooning that takes place at Centennial Park in the small and charming town of Frederick, 30 mi (50 km) north of Downtown Denver. The festivities run in June, usually on the weekend after Father's Day. The highlights feature more than 30 hot air balloons, a night glow party, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. You can even bring your fur friend to the Festival.

Balloonfest Activities

The hot-air balloon lifts each morning around 6 am, weather permitting. Fest activities also include a party on Saturday night with food trucks, live music, a beer garden, events for kids, and hot-air balloons candle sticking and glowing. All events and activities take place at Centennial Park.

Hot-Air Balloon Rides

Visitors must sponsor a balloon for the event to ride in it. A balloon ride costs $400 and includes a flight for two people (maximum) in the morning around 6 am. Businesses, organizations, and individuals can sponsor balloons.

Festival Ban

During the Frederick in Flight Festival, no drones are allowed in or fly above Centennial Park. The use of drones poses a safety risk to hot air balloons, their pilots, and passengers.

History

Frederick in Flight started back in 2011. The aim was to gather locals outdoors to enjoy summer and observe flying balloons, which was quite an unusual sight in the community at that time. Since then, the festival has grown to be one of the most spectacular hot air balloon rallies in Denver's area and across the entire state of Colorado.
