Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu's International Balloon Festival is among the most spectacular in the ballooning world. Each August over two extended weekends, it gathers around 150 performances for the whole family at Saint-Jean Airport, 40 minutes from Montreal. From one of America's largest inflatable parks to stage shows, balloon rides, and icreadible gourmet offerings, this festival can be fairly considered the best family-friendly event of the summer.
The balloons set off twice a day, in the morning at 6 am and in the evening at 6 pm. You can take a ride in one of the balloons, or watch the beauty of the launches from panoramic fields. The festival also includes meetings with pilots and crew, where anyone can learn more about this sport.
